Residential Customer Advisory Committee

As part of the Muhlenberg Township Authority's (MTA's) ongoing commitment to enhancing our level of Customer Service, we are excited to announce the formation of our Residential Customer Advisory Committee.

The MTA is committed to fostering transparency, community engagement, and accountability in all matters related to water and sewer management and distribution.

The purpose of this committee is to provide recommendations, insights, and feedback to the MTA on matters related to the improvement of the water and sewer services it provides, and to obtain their input on potential impacts, benefits, and alternatives to improvement actions considered by the MTA.

The committee shall consist of a total of seven (7) members, including to the extent practicable, residential ratepayers of broad and diverse backgrounds from Muhlenberg Township, Laureldale Borough, Alsace Township, and lead by an MTA Board member.

The committee shall meet on a regular basis, as determined by the MTA Board. Each Member of the committee shall receive a stipend of $25 per meeting they attend. The committee will meet in the evenings and meetings will be no longer than 2 hours in length.

The committee would benefit from members with diverse skills & experiences. The types of skills that would be of value to the committee are:

  1. Financial Literacy: Understanding budgets, financial statements, and utility rate structures.
  2. Communication: Ability to articulate concerns, suggestions, and feedback effectively.
  3. Community Engagement: Representing the interests of various residential demographics within the community.
  4. Technology Proficiency: understanding how technology impacts utility services and how it can improve customer experiences.
  5. Empathy: Being sensitive to the needs and challenges faced by different households within the community.
  6. Problem Solving: Addressing issues related to service quality, affordability, and sustainability.
  7. Analytical Skills: Assessing data and reports to provide informed recommendations.

The Term of Service for those individuals selected will be one year, with the option of renewal for an additional one year subject to the approval of the MTA Board. If you have interest in this opportunity please contact Muhlenberg Township Authority.
