Important Updates

Billing Update

Based on public feedback received over the past several months and the difficult economic situation facing many in our community, the Board has adopted revisions to the standard billing processes for MTA water and MTA sewer customers. Effective December 1, 2023, MTA water & MTA sewer bills will now be due within 45 days, extended from 30 days. A 10% late payment penalty will be assessed for any bills that are not paid within 5 days of the due date. Shutoff may occur thereafter. Important Note: This policy change only affects those sewer customers served by the MTA. Sewer customers who are not served by MTA (i.e. Laureldale Borough) must follow the payment guidelines prescribed by your service provider.

Sewer Backup Prevention Policy

The MTA recognizes the hardship associated with sewer backups, which unfortunately, occur in certain areas of the Township that are low-lying or where excess Township stormwater infiltrates the MTA sewer system. Recognizing this issue, the MTA Board voted on October 5, 2023 to take action by implementing a program, irrespective of what may have caused the backup, to provide financial reimbursement to affected residential MTA sewer customers for the installation of a sewer backflow valve. While there is no absolute “fix” to this problem, the installation of a sewer backflow valve is a key preventative measure. The MTA is proud to offer this program as means of alleviating this issue for those sewer customers who have experienced a sewer backup or own homes in flood-prone or flood-plain areas of the Township. Please visit this website for further updates regarding program details and eligibility. Learn More About the Sewer Backflow Program.

The MTA continues to examine operations for improvement and is very appreciative of feedback from the customer base.
